POSTPARTUM SUPPORT GROUP

Offered through contract with Northwest Counseling & Art Therapy

Early parenthood is one of the most significant identity shifts a person goes through. It can be joyful and isolating and overwhelming, sometimes all at once. This group is a place to bring all of it.

ABOUT

A closed, clinician-facilitated support group for parents in the postpartum period through two years. Eight weeks, once a week, free.

Sessions use drama therapy approaches - role-play, storytelling, embodiment, and creative expression - to explore the joys, challenges, and identity shifts of early parenthood. Drama therapy doesn't require any background in art or performance. It's a structured way of using creativity and imagination to process experiences that are sometimes hard to put into words.

Each cohort shapes its own experience. Facilitators work with participants at the start to understand what the group needs, and sessions are responsive to that.

  • Is this group right for you?

This group is a good fit if you're a parent within two years of giving birth or welcoming a child, and you're looking for support, connection, and a creative way to process what you're going through. You don't need a diagnosis, a referral, or any experience with therapy or the arts.

If you're a provider looking to refer a patient, this group is appropriate for parents navigating postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, identity transition, isolation, and early parenting stress. No referral form required -- see our referral page for more.

Cohort starts June 17, 2026. Spots are limited.
